I love Sol Agave! The food is always fresh, the salsas are next level, and the staff treats you like family every single time. The birria tacos and street tacos are must-orders — I've brought half of San Clemente here at this point.

My wife and I had our Valentine's dinner here and it was incredible. The service was attentive, the drinks were strong, and the pulpo a las brasas was one of the best dishes we've had all year. Already planning our anniversary dinner here too.

Delicious food, honest to god some of the best Mexican food in south OC. The carnitas taco is unreal and the margaritas are perfect. Staff went out of their way to help with a large family group. Highly recommend.

The approach

Taco bars are what we do most. Sol Agave runs taco catering across Capistrano Beach every week — backyards, corporate parks, wedding venues, and everything in between. Beach-day catering skews toward taco bars, aguachile, and cold ceviche — everything that survives an open-air setup with a coastal breeze.

Whether the table is a 30-person backyard or a 300-guest reception at Capistrano Beach County Park, the playbook is the same: real masa, live cooking, hot tacos.

  • 01

Tortillas pressed in-house from real masa — not bagged from a distributor.

  • 02

Six-plus protein options including carnitas, al pastor, carne asada, chicken, grilled shrimp, and a vegetarian build.

  • 03

Salsas, escabeche, and garnishes made same-day — the salsa bar is the whole experience.

Our most popular taco-catering setup is the Original package with a live taquero. Capistrano Beach crowds with bigger appetites or pickier eaters often jump to Deluxe for the extra proteins and sides.

Capistrano Beach — locals just call it Capo Beach — is the northern annex of Dana Point wedged between Doheny State Beach and San Clemente's North Beach. Pacific Coast Highway runs the full length of the neighborhood, and the gated Beach Road community south of Capistrano Beach County Park is one of the only stretches of true oceanfront homes in Orange County. Doheny State Beach and its adjacent Doheny Village district anchor the north end, with the San Juan Creek Trail feeding down from San Juan Capistrano and Mission San Juan through the wetlands to the surf. Palisades Elementary sits on the bluffs above PCH, and the Palisades neighborhood along Camino Capistrano is a mix of 1950s cottages and rebuilt modern homes. The Amtrak Pacific Surfliner rumbles through on the sand-level tracks without stopping — the closest stations are San Clemente Pier and San Juan Capistrano — and OCTA route 191 covers PCH. Doheny hosts the Doheny Blues Festival, and Capo Beach is the launching pad for the Ohana Music Festival crowd that spills up from Dana Point Harbor each fall. Skimboarders work Aliso Creek and Salt Creek to the north; surfers work Killer Capo and the Doheny freshwater break. Sol Agave caters weddings on Beach Road, backyard birthdays in the Palisades, and beach-park quinceañeras with equipment tuned for sand-level setups.

Capistrano Beach catering questions

How many tacos per person should I order in Capistrano Beach?

Three to four per guest is the sweet spot for a meal-replacement taco bar. We size the order off your final headcount.

Do you bring a live taco station?

Yes — our taquero handles the plancha, presses tortillas, and plates to order. Available on Original and Deluxe packages.

What is included in a taco-bar setup?

All proteins, fresh-pressed tortillas (corn and flour), rice, beans, three salsas, escabeche, cilantro, onion, lime, and serveware. Chips and guac available as add-ons.

Can you do a smaller drop-off taco platter?

Yes — our Basic tier covers drop-off taco platters from 20 guests, no taquero required. Perfect for office lunches across Capistrano Beach.
