Rancho Mission Viejo — RMV to locals — is the newest master-planned community in Orange County, built out from 2013 forward on the last active portion of the historic 23,000-acre Rancho Mission Viejo working cattle ranch. The plan preserves more than 17,000 acres as protected open space in the Reserve at Rancho Mission Viejo, and organizes development into named villages — Sendero and Esencia are largely built, Rienda is filling in, and future villages Villages of Cañada and Campo will continue north. Each village has its own club: The Hilltop Club and The Ranch House in Sendero, The Outlook and Esencia South Farm in Esencia, and the Rienda Reserve amenities coming online. Gavilán inside Esencia is an age-55-and-up section with its own clubhouse and pool. Cow Camp Road is the spine that connects RMV to Ortega Highway and the 5 Freeway at San Juan Capistrano. The Reserve's trail system — Chiquita Ridge, La Paws Dog Park loop, and the Cow Camp overlook — runs directly out of every village. Sol Agave's Camino De Los Mares kitchen is 15 minutes down Ortega, which keeps hot food inside every RMV clubhouse on time. We cater village-clubhouse weddings, Gavilán 60th and 70th birthdays, backyard family reunions at Sendero and Esencia estate lots, and Ranch House member events.
