Corona del Mar — CdM — is the seaside village neighborhood of Newport Beach, laid out on a grid of numbered avenues stepping down from Pacific Coast Highway to the sea. Big Corona at the mouth of Newport Harbor is one of the widest, calmest swimming beaches in Orange County, backed by the cliffs of Inspiration Point and Lookout Point above. Little Corona Beach at the south end is the tide-pool anchor and the launch for kayaking around the Arch Rock and the sea caves at Pirate's Cove. The Sherman Library and Gardens on PCH is the classic small-wedding venue — 2.2 acres of restored historic gardens with the Café Jardin restaurant. Buck Gully Reserve drops from San Joaquin Hills Road down through 300 acres of coastal-sage canyon to the ocean, and Crystal Cove State Park sits immediately southeast. There is no rail station; OCTA route 1 runs PCH and the free Corona del Mar Business Improvement District trolley loops the village in summer. Sol Agave caters cliffside-home rehearsal dinners on Ocean Boulevard, Sherman Gardens wedding welcome parties, and Big Canyon and Balboa Bay Club member events on outside-caterer nights.
